Adventures in Grocery Land...

I'm fascinated by details of ordinary, mundane things... Like grocery shopping. Grocery shopping here in Brooklyn in very different than grocery shopping where I grew up.

The FIRST major difference is that without a car, you can only buy as much as you can carry. Unless you have a grandma cart! WAHOOO!

The second major difference is that I live about a mile away from the grocery store, so walking there and back with a cart adds about 40 mins round trip to every shopping excursion...
So if you're hungry, you need to stop and fuel up along the way....

Selling local produce is a very new thing for my grocery store. I'm quite excited about it!

Kale chips, here I come! :)

This happens EVERY time I bring Joe shopping with me. It's a miracle we don't come back with 6 shopping bags full of cookies. If he had his way, that's how it'd go down.

No, Joe, I'm pretty sure you don't NEED giant marshmallows...

Our haul! We ended up doing pretty well after I yelled at Joe...

Dinner was grilled yellow squash and turkey burgers! Yummm...

AND my Bassnectar tickets came in the mail! WAHOOOOOOOOOOO! My baby sister and I are going together... can't wait!

What is your typical grocery shopping trip like? Relaxing? Stressful? Do you shop alone or with company? How far away is your grocery store? I'm nosy curious! :)

Wow! That's so fun! I love all of your photos. My typical grocery trip is on Sunday, but since my boyfriend and I are both dieting we end up going a second time during the week because we never buy enough meat!

this post is hilarious. just found your blog, i'm loving it so far! i see you work for the YWCA - i was an intern with them this past school year. very cool.

my grocery store excursions are a lot less exciting... i walk uptown 8 blocks to whole foods and take the bus back down with all of my elderly neighbors with walkers and stuff. good times.

@Superwoman- Is your BF competing too?

@Sofia- WELCOME! :) That's so awesome that you interned with the YWCA- were you at an afterschool program or in their offices?

@Julie- You make me blush! :) Thanks, girlie!
